Social Impact
Social Immersion Project – 2024-25
As part of the Social Immersion Project, 185 students of II MBA along with 14 faculty mentorss visited Kallarpudhur Tribal Village, Mettupalayam on 21st September, 2024. The objective of the visit was to encourage students to engage with local communities and understand the social and economic challenges faced by rural areas. A significant highlight of the visit was the donation of a computer to Sarguru Aadhivasigal Gurukula Kalvi Nilayam by the mentees of Dr.K.Vignesh Karthik, Assistant Professor, KCT Business, a government-aided school serving students from grades 1 to 5. This contribution aimed to enhance the educational resources available to the young students of the village, helping bridge the digital divide and promote learning opportunities.
During the visit, students were introduced to the village landscape and conducted in depth need analysis on 15 different project topics that is continued from the previous year, each focusing on different aspects related health, education, sanitation, women health, youth employment, housing, green energy and livelihood. Working closely with their mentors, the students engaged with the villagers, conducting interviews and surveys to gather insights into the pressing issues faced by the community. These projects provided the students with a platform to apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings, offering practical solutions to the village’s challenges.
The Social Immersion Project is a key element of the curriculum, designed to cultivate social consciousness among students. By immersing themselves in real-life social settings, students gain a deeper understanding of rural issues and the importance of creating meaningful social impact. This project aims to shape the students into socially-conscious managers, leaders, or entrepreneurs who will not only excel in their careers but also contribute positively to society.
