National Handloom Day – Centre for Weavers – Handloom Showcase and Sales Expoon 7 August 2024.

The Centre for Weavers, Kumaraguru Institutions and Natural Fibre Research Centre, Kumaraguru College of Technology jointly organised, the “Handloom Showcase” and Sales Expo of Handspun and Handwoven products on 7-8 August 2024 at Dr Mahalingam Vigyan Bhavan, KCT. The event aimed to create awareness of sustainable fashion and showcase heritage and rural products, particularly among the younger generation and faculty members. The exhibition featured new products developed by The Centre for Weavers that included Jamakkalam-based lifestyle and home furnishings. The sales expo witnessed stalls from Gandhigram Khadi and Village Industries, Dindigul, The Cooptex and Gandhipuram Sarvodaya Sangh, Coimbatore.  The event witnessed an impressive footfall of over 1,000 visitors, including Heads, Students and Staff from Kumaraguru Institutions. Mrs. P. Amsaveni, Regional Manager, The Cooptex, Coimbatore presided over the inaugural and interacted with staff and the students. This event provided a platform for supporting rural artisans and their crafts.
