Industrial Visit to Ashok Leyland, Hosur, and IKEA, Bengaluru on November 29 and 30, 2024
The department of MBA – Project Management organized an industrial visit for 26 students (Batch 2023-25) to Ashok Leyland, Hosur, and IKEA, Nagasandra, Bengaluru, on November 29 and 30, 2024. The two-day visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to industry operations and foster a deeper understanding of manufacturing, supply chain management, sustainability and Project Management practices.
At Ashok Leyland, the students had the opportunity to observe the advanced processes involved in manufacturing commercial vehicles engines. They gained insights into automated assembly lines, resource management strategies, and quality control measures. A highlight of the visit was the interaction with Ashok Leyland’s HRD Manager Mr. Ramesh, who shared valuable insights into the company’s sustainability initiatives and operational efficiencies.
The second day of the visit took the students to IKEA, Nagasandra, Bengaluru, where they explored the retail giant’s innovative supply chain and inventory management practices. Students observed how lean inventory strategies and technology-driven operations create a seamless customer experience. An interactive session with IKEA people shed light on sustainable business practices, including recycling initiatives and ethical sourcing.
This industrial visit served as a vital platform for students to bridge the gap between academic concepts and real-world applications. It provided them with a broader perspective on project and resource management, preparing them for the challenges of modern business environments.
