Talk on Values- Life Lessons from the Founder Chairman of KCT by Joint Correspondent Mr.Shankar Vanavarayar on December 15, 2016
A talk by Joint Correspondent Mr.Shankar Vanavarayar on the topic ‘Values – Life Lessons from the Founder Chairman of KCT” was organized for the B1 & B2 batches of I MBA (2016-18 batch) as part of the Value Added course on Professional Ethics on December15, 2016.The session began with a personal introduction by Joint Correspondent and he reiterated on how Dr.N.Mahalingam – Founder Chairman of KCT, born at Pollachi in 1923 started the transport business getting inspired by Henry Ford. He went on to add that he had imbibed in him the following values:
• Discipline
• Consistent Routine
• Professional Practices of visionaries like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Vellingiri Gounder and Alagappa Chettiar that had inspired him to develop a conglomerate – the Sakthi Group
• Continuous Learning
• Trusting People
• International Exposure and Local thinking
• Dreaming and not worrying about failures
• Attention to Detail (Macro and Micro)
• Limitless Reading and lots of Writing
• Health consciousness
• Being Business like in business dealings
• Courageous but Cautious and being extremely human in nature.
He summed up the values of chairman with a single quote – ‘High aspirations by simple living’ and concluded the talk by stating that one has to define their own values with a purpose. The session was interactive and 55 students participated. This session was coordinated by Dr. Kannan, Professor CoO
