Social Immersion Project
In 2021, it was decided that Social Immersion Project in KCTBS, a 6-credit paper must demonstrate and achieve 2 major goals – Sustainability and Creating a significant impact on society.
Based on the above framework, the following objectives were set:
- In line with United Nations Sustainability development goals, a step by KCT towards the UN vision of Peace, Dignity and Equality.
- KCT Business School to identify a Tribal Village with pressing needs and initiate actions towards their betterment.
- Sensitize KCT – BS students towards ground-level realities, inculcate social responsibilities, and expose them to responsible management projects as future thought leaders.
Phase 1:
With the above objective in mind, KCT BS has adopted a Village called “Kallar Pudhur”, Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu which consists of a Tribal community called “Irulas”.
179, 2nd-year year MBA students have formed into 13 groups and have conducted a study on the pressing needs of the people living there. They also developed novel solutions for those needs in April 2022.
Phase 2:
As part of the next phase of the project, a team of 177 MBA students and 16 Mentors visited Kallar Pudhur on December 3, 2022. This being the beginning of the implementation of the 14 initiatives that were identified in the first phase, hopefully, we build the village together.
