Problem-Based Learning on April 20, 2022.
A team of students of batch 2021-23 and faculties Dr B.Poongodi, Assistant Professor and Dr Priyadharsini, Assistant Professor, Fashion Technology Department, Mr T.Deivasigamani, Senior Handloom Weaver, The Centre for Weaver, Samathur and Dr P.Mohanamani, Assistant Professor visited Sadumugai village near Sathyamangalam on April 20, 2022, as part of problem-based learning. Sadumugai is one of the largest handloom weaving clusters for soft silks. In the whole process, the team interacted with master weavers, handloom weavers, workers at the dyeing unit and yarn assembling unit. Interactions were streamlined in such a way to understand the complete value chain. The field study also found that there are different types of damage in the finished goods as this is handwoven. These damages will be further investigated by the research team.
