The objective of the workshop was to introduce and simplify the process of patent filing for participants, to demystify the application preparation process and introduce them to specific details in applying. The first KLDA workshop series was on Patent Drafting by Mr.Ramjawahar, a very renowned facilitator who is currently working as Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of commerce and Industry, on November 29,2019 . The first half of the session was a brief survey of some of the well-known patented products which usually go unnoticed. This triggered interest and discussion among participants. Mr.Ram, shared the details about what is patentable, the need for faculty to apply for patents and also briefed faculty about the object of patenting, brief history of patenting including current processes and procedures in applying for patents. Some good industry relevant case studies, were introduced in the workshop. Participants had to think and discuss the solution to the problems at hand. The afternoon started with an exercise on drafting patents and the process of applying for patents. The participants were highly interactive and had patentable ideas in hand. The workshop had 23 participants from across departments of KCT who benefited from the resource person. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Kirupa Priyadarsini, KLDA coordinator.
