Entrepreneur Development Program Training for SHG of Shanthi Ashram

March 3 & 28, 2014

135 women of a Self Help Group from Shanthi Ashram were trained by 4 faculty of KCT Business School. The members of the SHG were given training on Business Plan and Soft skills, towards Entrepreneur Development. This program focused on empowering the women by giving them the basic knowledge in developing a Business Plan and the effective use of soft skills in their business.
These programs were conducted for 3 groups on February 10, March 3 & 28, 2014.

Community Engagement Project

February 20 – 25, 2014

Coimbatore sizzled with the presence of the students of KCT Business School batch 2013-15 from February 20 – 25, 2014 in enumerating the various aspects of Coimbatore City Infra structure development, as part of the Mass Survey conducted for Community Engagement Project. The project was initiated through the organization of Initiatives of Change, centre for Governance and conducted under the aegis of KCT.BS and Coimbatore Municipal Corporation (CMC). The students visited all the 100 wards attached with CMC and collected information on the various facilities provided by CMC. It was a great experience for the students to have met around 15000 households across Coimbatore city and thereby obtaining information of various facets thereof. This project is considered to be a hall mark assignment which was carried out by KCT.BS.

Trade Fair- Self Help Group and Tribal Products

A trade fair event  for the products sourced from Self Help Group and Tribal products was organized by Le Commerciante’ the Marketing Forum of KCT Business School on  May 3, 2014.   The trade fair was an outreach programme for the SHG and tribal products, to exhibit and sell their products. The event focused on promoting the products made by the grass root level communities that included Self Help Groups in and around Coimbatore and tribal communities across India.  Stalls were put up inside KCT Campus and the student teams exhibited, promoted and sold SHG and tribal products.
Fifteen stalls were put by the students with SHG products that were eco-friendly and fashionable. Some stalls had eatables and refreshments and a few stalls conducted games to attract the customers and discounts were offered to attract & satisfy the consumers. Some stalls had jute products like bags, purses, mobile pouches, water bottle holders, laptop bags etc., some had artificial jewelleries that attracted customers. The tribal store from Tribes India, which is set up under TRIFED-Tribal Federation, Government of India was the highlight of the day.  The stall exhibited all sort of tribal products like a musical pipe made of bamboo sticks, single stone cup, idols, interesting antiques, instruments and embroidery and printed fancy garments, etc.
