KCT Business School and Paul & Aravind Chartered Accountants jointly organized Management Development Program on Post Implementation Challenges in Goods and Services Tax on November 18, 2017. 120 industry executives from 47 companies in Tamil Nadu participated in the program. The program began with the welcome address and context note by Dr.A. Senthil Kumar, Assistant Professor (Sr.Grade), KCT Business School. Prof.Dr.V.R.Nedunchezhian welcomed the chief guest Dr. Periasamy IRS, Joint Commissioner, Central GST and Central Excise, Coimbatore. In his inaugural address, Dr.M.Periasamy requested businesses not to avoid paying the GST. He said that businesses can avail the Input Tax Credit and Exemptions by properly complying with the GST requirements. The GST insists on self assessment and the role of tax officials have transformed from tax assessors to verifying officers. Further, he added that the CBEC website has been made more user-friendly where one can access the latest notifications on GST. The technical sessions that followed for the day were facilitated by the leading chartered accountants CA.Paul Thangam & CA.Aravind Thangam; leading advocates and tax consultants Mr.K.Rengaraj and Mr.S.S.Janarthanan. The technical session I discussed on the issues and updates in filing returns under GST. The session II covered various provisions and revisions under GST. Session III dealt with the exemptions, transition problems under GST. The final session focused on the legal aspects of GST with respect to Inverted Duty Structures, Non-GST Products, Credit Blockages and Refunds.
