The Centre for Operations organized a Management Development Program on Implementation of Lean Tools for working professionals in manufacturing organizations on March 08 & 09, 2017. The program was facilitated by Mr. Johanan A Daniel, Senior Consultant, Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Coach, Trainer and Managing Director of Juran Academy (India). The main objective of the program was to provide practical insights on the implementation of various lean tools and focused on waste reduction, quality and process improvement. The program further aimed at developing the skills and knowledge of the participants for implementing lean tools in their organization. On the first day of the program, the participants were introduced to the basic Lean tools like 5S, JIT, Kaizen, SMED and TPM tools and calculations. On the second day of the program, the participants were trained on using mathematical, graphical and statistical process control tools like Flow Charts, Pareto Charts, Cause and Effect Diagrams and Histograms. Training was also provided on DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyse-Improve-Control) methodology which is used for the product or process already existing in the company when they fall below specifications and need incremental improvement. This program also included case studies and examples from service, manufacturing, and other industries. The sessions were interactive in nature and application oriented. 22 participants from organizations in and around Coimbatore participated in the program.
