Gender Sensitisation and its Global Impact
A talk on Gender Sensitisation and its Global Impact was organized on December 10, 2021. The objective of the event was to create awareness about different genders, the stereotypes involved around it and the unlearning and learning process for change. Gender Sensitization is a major arena, which needs to be introduced to generation Z for them to be inclusive and responsible citizens as well as great leaders in the future. The resource person of the seminar was Pranavi Jay from Her – D Coimbatore. She is the inspiring founder of Her – D focusing on educating about gender inequality, the difference between the biological sex and sexual identity and the stereotypes built around it.
She emphasized the need for awareness, common ideas prevailing in the society and how to break the same around gender. Surprisingly she came up with information like there are more than 50 gender identities, how subconsciously we inculcate gender among children and how this turns to be a hurdle for people with other gender identities. The audience were highly interested in the session and also questioned her on various common doubts relating to the topic. The session was interactive which proved that the aim of sensitizing students on gender was a success. This event was coordinated by Ms. Vanitha N, Assistant Professor-HR.
