A guest lecture on Financial Inclusion & Rural Banking in India – Prospects & Challenges, was organized for students of Batch 2016-18 on August 26, 2017. Mr. R. Senthil Kumar has a work experience for 17 years under Retail Banking Operations, Rural and inclusive Banking, Audit, Project Implementation, Process Documentation Sales & Marketing in ICICI Bank Ltd
Discussion was on Type of Deposits in rural banking, MCLR, financial institutions involved in rural banking etc. Generally, the need for financial inclusion and mechanism to make banking possible for rural banking was briefed. The discussion sketched the DBT- Debit Benefit Transfer under banking services. The speaker expressed the views on Components in Priority Sector Lending, types with real time examples. He also explained how the DBT and Business Correspondent mechanism works as well the modern technology based financial services offered by ICICI. He emphasized the need to repay the educational loan to enhance their CIBIL score. The session was organized by Dr. S. Sangeetha, Assistant Professor-SRG, School of Finance , for finance students.
