Kumaraguru College of Technology has been recognized as the Nodal hub – Western Region for the Institutional Entrepreneurship Development Program of Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Government of Tamil Nadu. As a first initiative to promote entrepreneurship and reinforce the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region through institutional capacity building, the Top Management Program was organized at Kumaraguru College of Technology on October 20, 2016. Representatives of the Management from various educational institutions in the region – Coimbatore, Pollachi, Erode, Namakkal, Karur and Salem participated in the program. The program was chaired by Shri. Rajaraman, IAS, Principal Secretary / Director, EDI-TN, Chennai. Shri. K.Rajaraman addressed the gathering on the importance of building the entrepreneurship ecosystem in educational institutions, the steps and processes to create a successful model for colleges and the support from government and other agencies for the same. Some of his thought provoking words were, colleges should motivate students create products and not projects, every college should have an innovation policy to drive innovation and entrepreneurship, collaboration is the key to success, institutions should adapt the same and educate students to network, collaborate and build great start-ups.
Dr.R.S.Kumar, Principal, KCT welcomed the gathering and Mr. Ravi Kandasamy , Head, PMO,KCT shared the best practices in KCT related to entrepreneurship initiatives. Ms.Vishnupriya, NEN presented the Wadhwani way of entrepreneurship education followed by discussion on the challenges in implementation of various entrepreneurship programs in campuses across the region. Dignitaries from various colleges have expressed their interest to implement the program in their respective colleges with the support of the Nodal Hub and EDI,TN. The event was coordinated by Dr.B.L.Lakshmi Meera, Head, CoE, Mr.Anandhan, PMO,EDI-TN and Ms.Shanjeevana, Additional Director, EDI-TN.
