A guest lecture on Constraints & Views in Database Management System was organized on December 2, 2020 for 75 students of II MBA- Analytics. The lecture started with definition of constraints and in what way we use constraints. The guest mentioned about the different types of constraints – Not null, Unique, Primary key, Foreign key and Check. A lot of practical examples and illustrations were given to explain the practical use of constrains from an industry’s point of view. He also asked a lot of probing questions to students providing real time cases and applications of constraints. Then the session moved into a hands-on mode where the guest practically gave a live session of applying constraints in tables and schema’s using SQL queries. The practical advantages of views instead of using complex queries were highlighted along with the various operations which are possible in views and scenarios. He then showcased the creation and usage of views using SQL queries. The Session was coordinated by Mr. Vivek Raj S N, Assistant Professor-Analytics & Student Coordinator, Sruti M S (II, MBA).
