The Centre for Operations organized a Management Development Program on Elements & Applications of Industry 4.0 for working professionals in manufacturing organizations on April 28, 2018. The program was facilitated by Dr.V.Kannan, Professor, Centre of Operations and Mr.C.V.Gowrisankar, Secretary, NIQR, Chennai. The main objective of the program was to provide practical insights on the elements of industry 4.0 – its benefits, applications and recommend ideas for implementation. The program further aimed to provide methods to leverage industry 4.0 for gaining competitive advantage. The participants were introduced to the building blocks of Industry 4.0 during the first session. The uses and applications of IOT, Simulation, Robots, Additive Manufacturing, Augmented Reality and Big Data Analytics were discussed. The second and third sessions focused on the detailed applications of the above through videos and discussions. The impact of Industry 4.0 on QMS was also discussed. This program included applications of IOT, and RFID for service, manufacturing and other industries. The sessions were interactive in nature and application oriented. 18 participants from organizations in and around Coimbatore participated in the program. Dr.V.Kannan, Professor, Centre of Operations coordinated the program.
