Angadi 2016, 2 day shopping festival organized and run by students of KCT Business School, was held on December 20-21, 2016. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Swarnalatha J, Managing Trustee, Swarga Foundation. The event was sponsored by Kaariyan, Zoom Car, Kosmic world, Leo Taps and Fittings, Midas Designers and Collection, Sri Chendur Industries. Angadi 2016 was completely organized by the Student Association (SA) of KCT Business School, under the guidance of Dr.Nalini P, Assistant Professor, CoM. The SA members were involved in seeking approval for the event, identifying the sponsors and vendors, designing and allocating the stalls, managing the floor during the event, etc. Angadi is a platform where students exhibit their managerial, team and leadership skills, through various activities like team building, delegation, sourcing, procuring, managing cash, formulating selling and promotional strategies, etc.
For the first time in the history of Angadi cashless transaction using online mobile wallet Paytm, was introduced, in order to manage the cash crunch due to demonetization. This initiative turned out to be beneficial, since many customers preferred using online payment. All the sales data from individual stalls were recorded in POS (Point Of Sale) software, specially designed for Angadi. The footfall for the 2 day shopping festival was about 5000.
Awards were given to the stall owners based on the following 5 categories:
• Highest revenue
• Visual merchandising
• Sales promotion
• Personal selling
• Overall championship
All the stalls are evaluated based on the data from the POS software and scores given by judges from various disciplines. The winners were declared and awarded during Angadi 2016 reflections, held on December 26, 2016.
